Dr. Peter AdamsPeter B. Adams, M.D.; OB-GYN

Dr. Adams was born and raised right here in Anchorage. He obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Alaska in 1985. After a brief professional basketball career in Europe, he returned to the United States and graduated from the University of Washington in 1990. After attending the graduate program in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Mayo clinic from 1990 to 1994, he returned to Anchorage and started his medical practice career. Dr. Adams is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology but specializes in high-risk obstetrics, fertility and minimally invasive surgery.

He currently resides here in Anchorage with his lovely wife of sixteen years, Shaunna and their three beautiful children. His hobbies include flying, working on his cabin, coaching basketball, hunting and fishing.

Ruth HigdonRuth E. Higdon, M.D.; GYN Oncology

Ruth graduated from medical school at the University of Missouri. She continued her education in residency at the LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans where she later taught prior to coming to Alaska. Dr. Higdon is board certified in both OB/GYN and GYN Oncology and remains the only GYN oncologist in the state.

Dr. Higdon is an extensive traveler and has visited many countries within Asia, Africa and South America. Within the last several years she has taken up flying again and is a private pilot. In her spare time her interests include mountain climbing, animals and gardening. 

Dr. Kenneth MorhainKenneth A. Morhain, M.D.; OB-GYN

Dr. Morhain has been living in Alaska and practicing obstetrics and gynecology since 1991. He graduated from Creighton University and continued on to his residency at Wright State University in Ohio. He is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology and has special focus on minimally invasive approaches to gynecologic surgery, urinary incontinence, and reconstruction for pelvic organ prolapse.

He currently lives in Eagle River with his wife, Kathy and their three sons. When not taking care of patients Dr. Morhain enjoys hiking, fishing, and his English bulldogs, Petey and Ginger.

Dr. Teryl ElamTeryl Elam, M.D.; OB-GYN

Dr. Elam was born and grew up here in Anchorage, graduating from West High. She earned her bachelor of science degree from a college in Wheaton, Illinois. She then went on to earn her Ph.D. from UCSF in physiology and biophysics, and her M.D. from the University of Washington. After working in public health in Oregon and South America for a year, she moved back to Anchorage in 2002 to establish a practice in OB-GYN.

Dr. Elam married a life-long Alaskan in 2003 who enjoys the outdoors as much as she does. Her son was born in October 2003 and has begun enjoying the outdoors just like his parents. Family interests include hiking, biking, kayaking, skiing and foreign travel.

Dr. Matthew LindemannMatthew A. Lindemann, M.D.; OB-GYN

Dr. Lindemann earned his medical degree from the University of North Dakota. He completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee and is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology. He specializes in laparoscopy and minimally invasive surgery as well as general and high-risk obstetric care.

He currently resides here in Anchorage with his wife and two children. His interests include fishing, hiking, soccer, skiing, and spending time with his family.

Dr. Natalia SaprykinaNatalia V. Saprykina, M.D.; OB-GYN

Dr. Saprykina was born and raised in Siberia. She obtained her MD at Novosibirsk State Medical Institute in Russia. Natalia practiced Obstetrics and Gynecology in her hometown until 1992 when she immigrated to the United States. After completing her recertification process here in the States, she completed her residency at the University of Kansas Medical Center in 2000. She is now Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Dr. Saprykina is specifically interested in treating those with urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse and general obstetrics and gynecology.

Natalia came to Anchorage to establish her private practice because of the likeness between Alaska and her homeland, Siberia. She is a devoted mother of her two lovely children, Maxim and Luba. She enjoys traveling, skiing, hiking, salsa dancing and spending time with her two kids.

Jennifer BzowyJennifer Bzowy, ANP; Women's Health

Jennifer graduated from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, Texas in 1980. She has practiced nursing in a variety of settings both here and abroad. She joined the United States Air Force in 1984, and later was selected to attend USAF School of Health Care Sciences for Nurse Practitioner training. Jennifer became certified as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner by the National Certification Corporation in 1989.

Jennifer was stationed at Elmendorf Air Force Base until 1993, when she decided to permanently settle in Anchorage and begin her private practice. Ms Bzowy provides gynecologic and primary care for women of all ages, including adolescents and teens. She is married and has two teenage sons. In her free time Jennifer loves to travel, cook, read and dance.

Carol HebertCarol Hebert, ANP; Gyn-Infertility

Carol has specialized in the diagnosis and treatment of infertility; from initial evaluation to complex fertility issues. She works with multiple IVF (invitro fertilization) centers throughout the continental United States and is a member of both the American Society of Reproductive Medicine and Pacific Coast Reproductive Society.

Carol received her bachelor of science degree from Arizona State University and practiced as a registered nurse in obstetrics and gynecology for the next 22 years. She earned her Nurse Practitioner degree from harbor UCLA in California in 1992.

She has lived with her husband in Anchorage, Alaska since 1970. They have three adult children and four grandchildren. Carol enjoys fishing, boating and traveling in her free time.

Anita TigertAnita Tigert, ANP; Women's Health

Anita graduated from the University of Texas School of Nursing. She specialized in neonatal intensive care nursing and research relating to the care and outcome of high risk infants. In 1991 she received her Masters in Public Health from the University of Washington and in 1994 earned her Masters of Science in Nursing from the University of Alaska. Her focus since graduating is in delivering primary health care to women and is board certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner.

Anita spends as much time as possible outside enjoying time with her husband, son, dog and horse. Summers in Alaska are spent riding, fly fishing, camping and kayaking in Prince William Sound. Winters are spent riding, quilting, reading and cooking.
